Saffron Guardian Privacy Policy

The short version. Saffron Guardian collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no servers. Everything it does happens inside your browser on your device.
What the extension reads
When you click the Saffron Guardian icon, it reads the visible text and the structured product data of the page you are looking at, in memory, to work out a trust score. That text is never stored and never leaves your device. Closing the popup discards it.
If you explicitly turn on automatic checking for a specific site, the same reading happens on that site's pages as you browse. You grant that one site at a time from inside the extension, and you can revoke it in the extension or in Chrome's settings at any time.
What is stored on your device
Using Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local), and never synced or transmitted:
- Your theme choice and whether the on-page card is enabled
- Checks you chose to save, so you can compare sellers: the site's hostname, page URL and title, the score, and the price per gram found
- The end time of the bloom-test timer, if you started one
You can delete all of it at any time with "Clear all" in the Saved tab, or by removing the extension.
What is not collected
No personal information, no browsing history, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no cookies, no account, no telemetry, no crash reporting. There is no back end to send anything to.
Network activity
The extension makes no network requests of any kind. It ships with all of its code and content and works fully offline. It executes no remote code.
Data sharing
Nothing is shared, sold, or transferred to anyone, because nothing is collected.
Permissions and why they exist
- activeTab — read the page you are on, only when you click the icon.
- scripting — run the page reader, the optional highlighter and the optional on-page card inside that tab. All injected code ships in the package.
- storage — keep your settings and saved checks on your device.
- Optional site access — not granted at install. Only if you switch on automatic checking for a specific site.
Children
The extension is a shopping aid for adults and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date, and any change that affects what data is handled will be described in the extension's release notes.
