Raihan Saffron
2025 Herat harvest — year stamped on every tin
The Saffron Starter Kit is the easiest way to try premium Afghan saffron. Each kit pairs our two starter sizes — 1 g for tasting and 2 g for everyday cooking — at a bundle price that saves you $14 vs. buying separately.
Most first-time saffron buyers want to taste before committing to larger tins. The 1 g tin gives you 4–6 weeks of weekly use, and the 2 g tin covers a household for 6–8 weeks. Together, they bridge tasting and everyday cooking at the lowest entry price we offer — and let you decide whether to step up to our 3 g, 5 g, or 10 g sizes later.
All threads in this kit are grown in the Herat region of western Afghanistan and hand-harvested in November of the most recent crop year. Each batch is lab-tested for crocin, picrocrocin, and safranal levels before being sealed in food-grade tins.
Store in a cool, dry, dark place. Properly stored, your saffron will retain peak potency for 2 years from harvest.
Net weight: 3 grams total (1 g tin + 2 g tin). Ingredient: 100% pure Afghan saffron threads (Crocus sativus L. stigmas). No additives, no fillers, no artificial coloring.
Hand-packed and distributed by Raihan Saffron, 24 Bassett St, Lynn, MA 01902, USA. Phone: 857-313-9458.
Standard U.S. shipping is $8 flat — free on orders over $49. Orders pack within 1–2 business days in Lynn, Massachusetts and arrive in 2–7 business days with tracking.
Every tin is covered by our 30-day potency guarantee: bloom a pinch, and if it doesn't turn deep gold within 10–15 minutes, we'll replace it or refund you in full. No restocking fee, no questions.
For most dishes, 10 to 15 threads is enough. Bloom in warm water or milk for 5 to 10 minutes before using.
For typical home cooking, 1 gram lasts most households several weeks. Heavy or daily users may go through it faster.
Whole threads. We do not sell powdered saffron because powder is the easiest place for substitutes to hide.

From Herat to your kitchen
Every tin starts as crocus flowers picked by hand at first light in Herat, Afghanistan — the region many chefs consider the finest saffron terroir on earth. The stigmas are dried the same day, graded to ISO 3632 Category I, then sealed by hand in small batches at our facility in Lynn, Massachusetts. No warehouses, no powder, no blends.
