Saffron Threads

Premium saffron threads from Raihan Saffron — sealed, all-red, and hand-packed in small batches in Lynn, Massachusetts. Available in 1 g, 2 g, 3 g, 5 g, and 10 g tins. Threads only, no powder. Free from fillers and dye.

Why threads, not powder

Saffron threads keep their flavor and color far longer than powder, are much harder to adulterate, and let you verify quality by sight and smell. Powder is the form most often cut with safflower, turmeric, or dye. Real saffron should look like dark crimson threads with an orange flare at the tip, smell hay-sweet, and release color slowly in warm water.

How to use saffron threads

Crush a small pinch (10–15 threads) and bloom in warm (not boiling) water or milk for 10–20 minutes, then add to your dish toward the end of cooking. A pinch is enough for 2–4 people. For a fuller guide, see How to Use Saffron.
