Our Sourcing & Quality: From Herat to Lynn, MA

The short version: We import all-red Super Negin saffron directly from family growers in the Herat highlands of western Afghanistan, bring it over in small lots, have it lab-graded to ISO 3632 Category I (270+ crocin), and hand-pack every tin ourselves in Lynn, Massachusetts. The 2025 Herat harvest is in stock now.

Where it grows

Our saffron comes from the Herat highlands, a region whose altitude and climate produce long, deep-crimson threads. We work with family growers who hand-pick the crocus flowers at dawn, when the flowers are still cool, and separate the red stigmas by hand the same day.

How it travels

Threads are brought over in small lots rather than bulk commodity shipments, which lets us keep each harvest traceable. Every batch is graded by an independent U.S. lab to ISO 3632 Category I before it earns a tin. Learn what that grade means in our ISO 3632 guide.

How it is packed

We hand-pack in small batches in Lynn, Massachusetts, sealing the threads in amber glass that protects color and aroma from light. The harvest year is on every tin.

Our quality report

We test every batch and stand behind it with a 30-day money-back guarantee. A scan of the current ISO 3632 lab certificate is available on request, and will be published here for the 2025 harvest.
