Saffron tea is a centuries-old ritual across Iran, Afghanistan, Kashmir, and parts of the Mediterranean. It's warm, low-caffeine, beautifully colored, and aromatic. It is not a treatment or cure for anything. The reason to drink it is that it's a small good thing at the end of the day.
What saffron tea actually is
A pinch of saffron threads steeped in hot water (or milk, or green/black tea) for 4–5 minutes, often sweetened with a little rock sugar and finished with cardamom.
Why people drink it
- Aroma: honey, hay, leather. Calming for many.
- Color: a clear gold that feels intentional.
- Pause: the brewing time itself is the point.
What it's not
A medication. A weight-loss shortcut. A cure for any condition.
A weeknight evening routine
- 5:30 PM — make a 1-cup pot of saffron tea.
- Sit on the porch or by the window for 10 minutes.
- Don't check your phone.
That's the whole ritual. The saffron is the catalyst, not the cure.
End of Batch 3. Next batch: Cooking With Saffron (A30–A40).
